Hemp Milk Latte

I’m a BIG coffee person. Or, latte person, to be more specific. So, when I started eliminating dairy in my diet, my morning latte was one area where I was unwilling to sacrifice on taste and quality. Soy is great, but I started to get tired of it after a while, so I tried almond milk, then coconut milk. Both are delicious in other things, like smoothies, etc., but they tasted really watery to me in a latte. I just couldn’t. Nope. Not gonna work. Someone suggested hemp milk, and I resisted for a while—it just sounded to hippie-ish or something, which was a dumb and total non-reason not to try it And when I finally did, that was it. There was no going back. It was thick, creamy, had a very neutral taste, and–most importantly—made great foam.  Hemp milk was everything this latte addict could have ever dreamed of. If you haven’t tried it yet, you must. My favorite brand is Pacific, and I usually go for the unsweetened vanilla. I use an espresso machine to whip it all …

Orange-Ginger Spritzer

Happy halfway through the week! This is just a mini post to share a refreshing little number I made the other night. I only had a tiny little bit of my favorite ginger ale left to go with my big ole bowl of popcorn, and that was not going to work. So, I pulled an orange out of the fridge, juiced it, and poured that and the ginger ale all over a glass of ice. Oh, it was good. Next time I’m going to try it with grapefruit juice—sort of like a salty dog that’s a little light on the salty. Mmm, I can already taste it… Cheers! (Clink.) M Orange-Ginger Spritzer Single Serving | Alcohol-Free Ready in: 5 min Ingredients: The juice of one orange 1/3 cup lightly sweetened ginger ale 1 cup ice Stir it all together and enjoy!

Citrus Coolers

I did a recipe for Strawberry-Rhubarb Lemonade a few weeks ago that called for creating strawberry lemonade ice cubes and pouring a lightly sweetened soda over them. I loved that sipper so much that I decided to do something similar with citrus fruit. The best thing about this recipe is that you can have all the ingredients on-hand—both the ice cubes and soda store great for an extended amount of time—making it easy to pour one or a few anytime the mood strikes. This recipe makes a slightly sweet drink—which is the way I like them—but play with it a little to see what level of sweetness works for you. Need to adjust it? Just add or cut the amount of honey. Easy. Choose from three flavors below. Drink up! M Citrus Coolers Drinks | Vegan, Gluten-Free Prep time: 5 min  |  Ready in: 8 hrs, 5 min  | Yeilds: 3 to 4 coolers Ingredients: For each flavor, you will need 1 liter of plain soda or carbonated water. Lemon-lime: 2 limes 2 lemons 3 tablespoons …

Orangie-Beet Juice

I’ve never been a big beet person, and I’m still not—EXCEPT in juices. Makes no sense, but I’ve always been weird like that. I’m also the girl who likes all things chocolate except chocolate ice cream. Why? No idea. This juice is among my favorites. The orange and carrot juice totally mellows out the, well, beetieness of the beets, and adds just the right amount of sweetness. And the color is awesome. 🙂 Enjoy! M Orangie-Beet Juice Single Serving, Snack | Vegan, Gluten-Free Ingredients: 1 small beet 1 orange 1/2 lemon 1/2-inch piece ginger Directions: Send ingredients through a juicer, pour into a glass, and sip away.

Carrot-Ginger Zinger

I end up sipping on this juice at least a few times a week as part of an afternoon snack—it’s one of my favorites. The ginger adds a little zing to the sweetness of the carrots, and the lemon tarts it up just a hint. This is a really good one for satisfying a sugar craving—it’ll knock that bothersomeness right outta there. Okay, juice it up. M Carrot-Ginger Zinger Single Serving, Juice | Vegan, Gluten-Free Ready in: 5 min Ingredients: 6-7 carrots 1/2 lemon, peel sliced off 1/2-inch piece of ginger 1/2 apple Directions: Send it all through a juicer, and you’re good to go! TIP: Sandwich the piece of ginger between the other bigger pieces of produce when you load everything in the juicer shoot so it doesn’t end up bouncing around in there by itself. Bottoms up, healthy people!
